# Changling Li > Incoming PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems (MPI-IS), researching AI safety, multi-agent systems, and AI governance. Changling Li (李常凌) will be joining MPI-IS as a PhD student in September 2025, jointly supervised by Prof. Maksym Andriushchenko and Prof. Rediet Abebe. He recently completed his master's in computer science at ETH Zurich majoring in machine intelligence and minoring in theoretical computer science. He previously worked with Prof. Zhijing Jin, Prof. Joni Pajarinen, and Prof. Pulkit Agrawal. He obtained B.A. degrees in computer science and physics with a concentration in astrophysics at Colby College, working with Prof. Ying Li. He is a UWC alumnus. ## Research Interests - **AI Safety**: Developing methodologies to evaluate, detect, and mitigate high-stakes rare behaviors in frontier AI systems - **Multi-Agent Systems**: Understanding risk propagation through agent populations and designing safe multi-agent interactions - **AI Governance**: Connecting technical research and policy-making on evaluation standards, agent accountability, and interaction regulation ## Publications - [Decomposing and Measuring Evaluation Awareness](https://arxiv.org/abs/2605.23055): Changling Li, Terry Jingchen Zhang, Jie Zhang, Zhijing Jin, Sahar Abdelnabi, Maksym Andriushchenko. arXiv preprint, 2026.
